Stony Brook University, C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics
Research directions include (but not limited to) topological phases of matter and their realizations on quantum devices, quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum computation, non- equilibrium quantum dynamics, and generalized symmetries.
Exceptional applicants may be qualified for a postdoctoral fellowship within the Simons Targeted Research Group on the Non-Equilibrium Frontier. The Fellowship will support an outstanding early-career scientist pursuing research in theoretical condensed matter and theoretical quantum information science (see note below).
Required Qualifications:
Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in theoretical physics or
closely related field, with a record of independent research. Local position titles and salaries will
depend on experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Research experience in one or more of the subfields described above.
Brief Description of Duties:
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research in theoretical physics. The researcher may
collaborate with senior and junior members of the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics, as
well as members of other research institutes, and may travel for research purposes. The Institute
has a tradition of collaboration with the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and of
Mathematics and the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook and with
Brookhaven National Laboratory.
