GeoDelphi, Inc. dba Whitespace is seeking a dynamic and innovative Software Engineer to build cutting-edge solutions within our Answers platform. You’ll be essential to our Answers platform digital offering which is broken into a technological stack that is comprised of a source, engine, analytic, and a story layer. The engineering team is the technological backbone of our Answers platform working in the ‘engine layer’ to discover the ground truth. You’ll work with a team of engineers and developers designing tools to provide technical solutions to complex questions. The ideal candidate is creative, a problem solver, developer, designer, and appreciates delivering high-quality products. This position will report to the VP of Engineering.
This position is 100% remote! The candidate MUST be a US citizen and reside in the contiguous United States. The candidate must be a W2 employee of GeoDelphi, Inc. No 3rd party applications.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES Research, develop, design, implement, and test software geared towards population simulationWork with customers/end users to define project requirements, and turn those requirements into an achievable timelineCollaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in back-end development tools and technologiesWrite well designed, testable, and efficient code in various languages, primarily Java.Recommend changes to improve established application processesPrepare and produce releases of software componentsProvide technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure questions
EXPERIENCEMust have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a software engineering role Experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production softwareStrong coding abilities emphasizing quality and testability in your work.Utilize programming languages such as Java and PythonStrong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processesDemonstrated experience with continuous integration and software CM processes/tools (GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus, and other DevOps/Continuous Integration tools)Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimizationExperience acquiring client requirements and resolving workflow problems through automation optimization
DESIRED SKILLSExperience with population simulation, or other data simulationExperience with geospatial engineering Experience with Big Data processing tools, such as Spark/Hadoop, Google’s BigQuery, AWS’s Athena and EMRExperience with public clouds such as AWS, Google, AzureStrong data visualization skills
