Senior Automation Engineer, API

Job Description:

• Build applications, landing pages, marketing automations, internal tools, dashboards, prototypes, and utilities using Replit, Lovable, and similar AI-powered development platforms
• Build sophisticated GoHighLevel integrations and work extensively with the GoHighLevel API
• Design and build agentic automations and orchestrate AI agents and multi-agent workflows
• Build and experiment with Hermes or other agents
• Connect AI agents to APIs, databases, CRMs, internal systems, and external tools
• Create systems where agents perform useful business work
• Build and consume REST APIs and create and manage webhooks
• Work with OAuth, API keys, tokens, permissions, and authentication
• Design workflows that move data reliably between multiple systems
• Integrate AI models and AI services into business processes
• Build custom solutions and rapidly prototype ideas
• Turn repetitive human work into intelligent automated workflows
• Troubleshoot integrations and diagnose failures
• Monitor automations
• Document systems and solutions
• Continuously identify ways to make work smarter, faster, simpler, or automatic
• Help systems communicate, eliminate manual processes, improve data quality, accelerate the team, and test ideas quickly

Requirements:

• Highly technical, highly creative Senior Automation & API Engineer
• Strong practical experience with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, OAuth 2.0, API authentication, HTTP methods, rate limits, pagination, error handling, logging, databases, data mapping and transformation, Git/version control, testing, debugging, and integration architecture
• Experience or strong interest in AI agents and agentic automation
• Ability to build AI systems that reason, access information, call tools and APIs, make decisions, interact with business systems, trigger actions, and hand work between agents and humans
• Experience with Hermes agents, MCP, tool calling, structured outputs, memory/context systems, RAG, orchestration, and multi-agent systems highly valuable
• Comfortable using Replit, Lovable, and similar AI-powered development platforms
• GoHighLevel experience highly valuable, including APIs, webhooks, contacts, opportunities, calendars, workflows, custom fields, tags, pipelines, forms, conversations, attribution, automations, and external integrations
• Creativity and ability to develop solutions from loosely defined problems or ideas
• Resourcefulness, curiosity, experimentation, documentation reading, independent work, and problem-solving mindset
• Bonus experience with OpenAI API, Claude/Anthropic, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, SQL/PostgreSQL, Supabase, GitHub, Make, Zapier, n8n, Cloudflare, AWS/Google Cloud, Twilio, Stripe, CRM architecture, marketing automation, data pipelines, and internal business applications
• Must be available for full-time work, not part-time or side-gig work
• Must live in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, or Washington
