Principal Machine Learning Scientist

Job Description:

• Lead and shape DISCO’s strategic machine learning and AI research initiatives
• Lead impactful machine learning research projects
• Drive innovation in algorithm development and methodologies
• Provide strategic direction for the organization's research agenda
• Optimize research processes, workflows, and resource allocation
• Manage large-scale research programs and oversee multiple projects and teams
• Ensure successful execution of complex research initiatives
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners
• Engage with industry stakeholders to understand and address real-world challenges
• Drive application of machine learning solutions to create meaningful industry impact
• Develop and execute strategic plans for research initiatives and long-term research strategies
• Participate in the broader research community
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level researchers
• Lead and manage research teams, fostering knowledge-sharing and innovation
• Contribute to team members’ professional development

Requirements:

• 12 to 15+ years of relevant experience in machine learning research
• Proven track record of impactful research and leadership in large-scale projects
• Demonstrated leadership in driving innovative machine learning research
• Proven ability to lead and guide research teams toward groundbreaking contributions and advancements
• Expertise in developing and executing strategic plans for an organization's overarching machine learning research agenda
• Leadership in fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and innovation within the research team
• Recognition for external contributions to the broader machine learning research community
• Thought leadership demonstrated through publications, keynote presentations, or participation in industry conferences
• Proven track record of making a significant impact by applying machine learning research to real-world industry problems
• Strong collaboration skills, including effective engagement with industry partners and stakeholders
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
• DISCO is not currently sponsoring visas, including, but not limited to, H-1B, TN, or EAD, and is not accepting visa transfers
• Operational leadership in optimizing research processes (even better if)
• Extensive experience in program management and overseeing multifaceted initiatives (even better if)
