PFL Claims Specialist

Job Description:

• Conduct initial and ongoing interviews with claimants
• Obtain and review medical records
• Make timely and ethical claim determinations
• Communicate with claimants, employers and medical professionals by phone and email to gather Short Term Disability claim information
• Collaborate with case managers, nurse case managers and consulting physicians on claim determinations
• Review complex medical records to determine approval durations and future action planning
• Complete accurate financial calculations according to company and state guidelines
• Provide exceptional customer service and proactively identify customer needs and opportunities

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED
• 1-2 years of experience in claims, leaves or customer service
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while handling a high volume of inbound and outbound calls
• Experience with disability and/or absence management (nice to have)
• Strong mathematical skills for payment calculations (nice to have)
