Jumbo Operator | Granny Smith Near Laverton | 8/6 And 7/7 Fifo

About the Role

Gold Fields is hiring a Jumbo Operator for underground development at its Granny Smith gold mine near Laverton in the WA Goldfields. The role is permanent and FIFO from Perth on a rotating roster of 8 days on and 6 off, then 7 nights on and 7 off. You report to the Underground Shift Supervisor and own your heading, drilling development faces on modern twin-boom Sandvik rigs.

Key Responsibilities

• Drill underground development headings to design and ground support standards


• Read drill plans and mine designs and work to them accurately


• Support charge-up, bogger, long hole and service crews working around you


• Keep engineers, geologists, survey and supervisors informed so drilling stays on plan


• Complete pre-start checks and basic maintenance, and keep headings tidy

About You

• Proven underground experience operating jumbo drill rigs, ideally Sandvik


• Sound knowledge of charging, firing, bogging and trucking development headings


• Working knowledge of hard rock development and ground support, including resin, MDX and split set bolts


• Geobrugg Minax mesh experience is a bonus


• Manual C class driver's licence, WA Dangerous Goods Security Card and Working at Heights
