We’re looking for a passionate Java engineer eager to bring expertise in an end-to-end product development environment across a range of impactful projects.

Garmin Connect is our flagship app, powering the health, wellness, and fitness experiences of users around the world. It brings together data from smartwatches, fitness trackers, cycling computers, and other Garmin devices into a single, connected experience. You'll work on features that span multiple sports and activities, helping users better understand their performance, track their progress, stay motivated, and get more value from every workout, adventure, and healthy habit.

Alongside Garmin Connect, we build specialized applications for communities passionate about activities such as archery, diving, and golf, creating focused experiences tailored to their unique needs. We also develop core services that support Garmin's sports and lifestyle ecosystem, including platforms for media and content management. This gives engineers the opportunity to work on both customer-facing experiences and the foundational systems that enable them at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance software solutions for Garmin Applications
• Apply software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Understand business needs and translate them to technical solutions.
• Add value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.
• Help ensure resiliency and high availability of the applications owned by your team.
• Help set up monitoring for the new features being developed.
• Troubleshoot software issues.
• Write and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Java and OOP principles.
• Proven experience in designing, enhancing and developing complex Java microservices using Spring Boot (experience in cloud-native application development is a plus).
• Strong understanding of Spring Framework.
• Good knowledge of web services (REST).
• Knowledgeable about relational or non-relational databases.
• Good knowledge of unit testing.
• Good understanding of design patterns.
• Good usage skills of development tools (source control, development environment, issue tracking).
• Good knowledge of building tools and continuous delivery.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
