About the Role

Thiess is hiring permanent Excavator Operators for the Peak Downs Project near Moranbah in Queensland's Bowen Basin. The roster is an even time 7/7 rotating day and night pattern with 12.5 hour shifts. Thiess pays flights from Brisbane, offers bus-in bus-out from Mackay and Proserpine, and also takes drive-in drive-out operators. Applications close on 30 October 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Liebherr 9800 and 9350 and Hitachi 5600 excavators safely and efficiently


• Run other ancillary equipment as needed


• Keep productivity high to support mine performance


• Follow Thiess safety standards and operating procedures

About You

• Proven experience on Liebherr 9800 and 9350 and Hitachi 5600 excavators


• A signed SSE competency transcript


• A current open driver's licence


• A valid Standard 11 certificate


• A strong commitment to safety


• Able to complete two reference checks, a National Police Check and a medical assessment
