CAD / PCB / 3D Design Engineer – AI Evaluation

Job Description:

• Design realistic, difficult engineering tasks consisting of prompts, input files, and automated graders
• Turn real design work into self-contained tasks using STEP files, KiCad projects, .blend files, and meshes
• Build and iterate on tasks with Claude Code and version them in Git
• Run tasks against frontier AI models and analyze model transcripts
• Close leaks and shortcuts so tasks are difficult for the right reasons
• Pass automated QA and peer review
• Document the rationale behind synthetic data
• Attend onboarding and calibration sessions

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands-on design experience in at least one track
• Professional experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, FreeCAD, or a comparable CAD tool for the Mechanical CAD track
• Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, DRC/ERC, footprints, and enclosure fit using KiCad for the Electronics/PCB track
• Experience with scene construction, animation, rigging, physics, camera work in headless Blender driven by Python for the 3D/Spatial-Temporal track
• Shipped real deliverables such as fabricated boards, manufactured parts, production 3D assets, or published research
• Portfolio link required to apply
• Ability to write Python as part of engineering work
• Comfortable with the command line and Git
• Ability to judge whether a design is actually correct
• Minimum availability of 20 hours per week, active at least 5 days per week
• Independent contractor engagement
• Must not require H1-B or STEM OPT support
