Job Description

Role

The AI Forward Deployed Engineer (AI FDE) at Databricks is a customer-facing technical role delivering professional services to design, build, and productionize GenAI applications. The role reports to the Senior Manager - AI FDE, EMEA and is preferred to be based in Stockholm, Sweden.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop cutting-edge GenAI solutions, incorporating Databricks AI research and modern techniques.
• Own production rollouts of consumer and internal GenAI applications.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers across a variety of domains.
• Present at conferences and act as a thought leader internally and externally.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering to influence priorities and shape the roadmap.
• Travel to customer sites as needed (approximately every 4–8 weeks).

Requirements

• Experience building GenAI applications (examples: RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, fine-tuning) with tools such as HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy.
• Expertise in deploying production-grade GenAI applications, including evaluation and optimizations.
• Extensive hands-on industry data science experience using common tools (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch).
• Experience building production ML deployments on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research) or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication skills and experience teaching or explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborative mindset, commitment to lifelong learning, and focus on driving business value through AI.
• Preferred: experience using the Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark™ to process large-scale distributed datasets.
